Abstract

Local 804 was organized in 1937 to represent the workers at the Leland Electric Company in Dayton, Ohio. Records include membership meeting minutes, Executive Board and Labor-Management meeting minutes, contract negotiations, the records from organizing campaigns in several small plants in Dayton, correspondence, grievances, union bulletins, membership lists, and files on various subjects including the Communist controversy in the Dayton labor movement during the late 1940s.

Abstract

Edelman was a long-time, active member of the Socialist Party in Dayton, Ohio and for a period, served as business manager for the local Socialist newspaper, Miami Valley Socialist. His papers include correspondence, clippings, political literature, Socialist campaign materials, working papers, a minute book of the Young Socialist League in Dayton (1915), scattered copies of Miami Valley Socialist, and a collection of state and national Socialist Party literature.

Abstract

This collection provides documentation about Dayton area choirs and choir music. It contains William Alfred and Charlotte Gray's papers acquired during their careers as choir director and church organist at two Dayton area churches. It also holds documents from and relating to labor agreements between Delco/GM and Local 755 International Union Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers, AFL-CIO-CLC. It also holds employee directories and benefits packages from Delco/GM.

Harold F. Barrett Papers

Abstract

A Dayton native, Barrett was a toolmaker, technical writer, teacher, and political activist involved in labor organizing in the Miami Valley area. He also founded and directed the Labor Studies Department at Sinclair College. His papers include materials pertaining to his labor organizing efforts, his newspaper editorials, music he composed as well as his drawings and poetry.

Abstract

The IUE-769 was formed when Copeland Corporation opened a production facility in West Union, Ohio, which manufactured different styles of compressors for air conditioners. Copeland Corporation permanently closed the West Union facility in 1994. The collection contains administration records such as meeting minutes, contract negotiations, IUE constitution, retirement plan, employee awards and grievances.

Edith Holsinger was an English teacher, teaching at both Fairmont West High School and Barnes Jr. High School. In 1964, Holsinger aided in the creation of the Kettering Teachers Union and was an active participant until her retirement. Contains a fairly complete run of minutes for the years 1866-1968 as well as legal reports, financial ledgers and journals, membership records, correspondence, and a variety of printed materials. The minutes include reports from the Executive Board and various committees, and summary financial information. Membership records contain much information on the union's apprenticeship program.
