Dr. Reed Smith was a professor at Wright State University from 1969 – 1995. In that time he built up a Peace Studies program at WSU and held several conferences on Peace Activism. The hospital was established in 1878 and founded as Dayton's first community hospital by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor.
