Twin Valley School Blueprints (MS-474)

The collection contains 30 blueprints for renovations of four school buildings in Preble County’s Twin Valley Local School District: North High School (Lewisburg), Lewisburg Elementary School, Verona Elementary and Junior High School, and South High School (West Alexandria). They include floor plans, exterior views, and plans about heating, plumbing, and lighting.

The collection contains several types of blueprints. Floorplans, which exist for all of the schools except the West Alexandria South High School, show labelled classrooms. Blueprints for “Carpet Seams and Special Treatments”, plumbing and ventilations, and “Lighting and Reflected Ceiling” include floorplans labelled with architectural details rather than room usage. Exterior views, which exist for Lewisburg Elementary School and Verona Elementary and Junior High, show the window layouts for the schools, suggesting the buildings’ aesthetics before and after the 1970s renovations. A topographic view of the Lewisburg schoolgrounds shows the relative locations of the North High School and Lewisburg Elementary School, as well as some details about the schoolyard’s landscaping. Some blueprints contain instructions to workers about details like removing chalkboards, painting interior trim in the school, and repairing squeaks in the schools’ wood flooring.

The blueprints are labelled with a letter-number system in the bottom right corner. Blueprints whose labels begin with C, D, DM, and DE are plans for Twin Valley’s Lewisburg schools—the North High School and an elementary School. Those labelled E are for the Verona Elementary and Junior High. Ones labelled B, BM, and BE are plans for the West Alexandria South High School.
