Scope and Content

Series I, Administrative, includes the Club's constitution and bylaws, anniversary booklets, meeting minutes, presidents' reports, committee reports, correspondence, project and program information, financial records, and a few other miscellaneous items. One of the "miscellaneous" files contains a list of the officers' duties, an introduction for Herr Mistaufen, and other items.

Series II, Member Directories, consists of several decades' worth of official membership directories, as well as less detailed member lists.

Series III, Slides and Photos, includes photographs from various club activities, such as meetings and parties, dating mainly from the 1980s to 2000, as well as binder of photographic slides featuring gardens and meetings, dating from approximately 1968 to 1983.

Series IV, Scrapbooks, contains scrapbooks documenting Club activities, including photos, newspaper articles, and sample invitations, from the 1930s to early 2000s.

History of Four Seasons Garden Club

Organized in 1928, the Four Seasons Garden Club of Oakwood has raised money through various activities such as bulb sales and auctions to fund beautification projects around the Dayton area - including the landscaping of Shawen Acres Children's Home, "Whip-poor-will" Girl Scout Camp, and the Italian Cloister at the Dayton Art Institute - and to provide other community services.

Abstract

The Four Seasons Garden Club is an organization founded in 1928 to raise money for beautification projects around the Dayton area. The collection contains meeting minutes, membership directories, reports, financial records, correspondence, program files, scrapbooks, and photographs.

Acquisition Information

The Four Seasons Garden Club collection was placed on deposit with Wright State University by the Club in June 1983.
