Abstract

The collection consists of interurban train schedules for cities in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The schedules include information about the train lines, arrival and departure times, stations, distances, and sometimes fares, as well as advertisements and often a short business directory for the particular city. The advertisements were sold by L. M. Berry, later founder of L. M. Berry and Company, an extremely successful telephone directory publishing company.

Samuel and Mary Berryhill Estate Settlements (SC-172)

Scope and Contents The collection two sheets of handwritten documentation concerning the settlement of debts of Samuel and Mary Berryhill, following their deaths. One page, from 1851-1852, details Samuel Berryhill’s debt of $31.80 to William Sheppeard, for home improvements/repairs in July 1849. Papers reflect the civic involvements of Bieser, a Dayton attorney. Scope and Contents Wilbur F. H. Bigelow, Sr., was a foreman in the Mill department of Dayton-Wright Airplane Company factory at Moraine (Plant 1), during World War I. The collection consists primarily of 28 photographs, most of which relate to Bigelow’s work at the factory, including DH-4 aircraft, employees and factory scenes, air demonstration shows, and aerial photographs captured during a test flight.
