Samuel and Mary Berryhill Estate Settlements (SC-172)
Scope and Contents
The collection two sheets of handwritten documentation concerning the settlement of debts of Samuel and Mary Berryhill, following their deaths. One page, from 1851-1852, details Samuel Berryhill’s debt of $31.80 to William Sheppeard, for home improvements/repairs in July 1849. It features an order from Joseph Mason, Justice of the Peace, that Mary Berryhill, administrator of Samuel Berryhill’s estate, pay the debt. The second sheet of paper, signed by William L. Cowan, asks that the administrators of Mary Berryhill’s estate pay a $16.87 debt owed to McClure and Brown.

Biographical / Historical
Samuel Berryhill (1749-1849) and his wife Mary (1797-1855) lived in Bellbrook, Greene County, Ohio. Samuel died of cholera on June 9, 1849, and Mary died September 1, 1855. They are buried in Bellbrook Cemetery.
