Scrapbook of newspaper clippings, programs, first day issue Wright Brothers stamps, invitations, and photographs documenting Ellis Wright’s participation in the 45th anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1949. Ellis Wright was a first cousin to Wilbur and Orville Wright.

Narrative and commentary on the Wright Family funerals, written and donated by Chip Boyer, whose family owned Boyer Mortuary and handled the funerals of Wilbur, Milton, Katharine, and Orville Wright. Included in the Plates section of the booklet are mortuary and death records and photographs of gravestones and funerals of the Wright Family.

Abstract The Wright Family to Petree Family Correspondence primarily contains letters written by Milton Wright to his niece Estella Harris Petree. The letters describe Wright family news and activities, but more importantly include specific references to Wilbur and Orville Wright’s bicycle business, flying experiments and success, Orville Wright’s accident at Ft. The collection consists of 3 glass plate negatives, with copy prints, depicting the Wright Flyer at Huffman Prairie. The photos are believed to date to the time of the Wright School of Aviation, which operated at Huffman Prairie from 1910-1916. It is unclear whether Wilbur Wright or Orville Wright are depicted in any of the photos.

Scope and Contents Photographs most likely taken May 1910 at Simms Station, Dayton, Ohio, during attempts to set altitude records.According to the donor of the photographs the flight was taken on May 20-25, 1910 at Sims Field now Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio.
