Abstract

Explorer Post 72 was chartered in November 1958 by the First Presbyterian Church in Fairborn, Ohio, and was active until 2002. From 1971 onward, the group was coed, and members engaged in a variety of camping trips, outdoor activities, sports, and social gatherings. Records include administrative and financial records, files on trips and other activities, newspaper clippings, photographs and slides, and audiovisual materials.

Abstract

This collection contains correspondence, publications, and paperwork documenting the career of Jewish poet and Wright State University English professor Gary Pacernick. Pacernick was one of the early members of Wright State’s English department faculty, serving from 1967 to 2009. Prominent in the collection are letters to Pacernick from poets and writers nationwide and worldwide.

Scope and Contents Series I, Official Records, includes materials transferred from the active fraternity. Currently, this series includes only the most recent constitution and by-laws, dated 2018. The scrapbook commemorates a celebration of life of a distinguished African-American author from Yellow Springs, Ohio, Virginia Hamilton. The celebration of life was held October 29, 2005, at the Yellow Springs Community Library.

Sigma Alpha Iota is an international professional music fraternity for women that was founded in 1903 at the University of Michigan. The Dayton Alumnae Chapter was officially chartered in 1959 with 19 members, and is still active today. This collection contains administrative documents, yearbooks, scrapbooks, and photographs related to the Dayton Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota from 1959 to 2020.
