Abstract

The collection contains personal papers, legal documents and court proceedings, photographs, audio and video recordings, news clippings, awards and certificates, correspondence, and other materials relating to Dr. Thomas’s life and career in education and civil rights activism. The collection includes a significant amount of analog audiovisual material, including recordings of most episodes of Thomas’s interview program “Like It Is.”

Abstract

The collection contains 30 blueprints for renovations of four school buildings in Preble County’s Twin Valley Local School District: North High School (Lewisburg), Lewisburg Elementary School, Verona Elementary and Junior High School, and South High School (West Alexandria). They include floor plans, exterior views, and plans about heating, plumbing, and lighting.

Scope and Contents Series I: Official Portraits, consists of extremely large class portrait collages, sports team portraits, and faculty portraits, which previously hung framed in the hallways of the school building. The class portraits and team portraits are mounted on heavy cardstock. Contains programs, articles, papers, and commencement materials for the Xenia Female College, dating between 1866 and 1873.

Abstract

Dayton native, Margaret Shardelow Young, was a member of the Friday Afternoon Club, one of the city's oldest women's literary clubs. She was also a local school teacher and long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton. The collection includes her Friday Afternoon Club writings, schoolbooks, teaching notes, photographs, and greeting cards with her original poetry.
