Abstract

Contains a variety of materials on the establishment and growth of the Red Cross in Dayton as well as the records of the Greene and Preble County Chapters prior to their merger with the Dayton Chapter in 1960. The collection includes Board of Directors and committee meeting minutes, annual reports, programs, extensive correspondence, financial records, audio materials, photographs, and newspaper clippings.

Andrew S. Iddings Wright Brothers Homecoming Collection

Abstract

Collection consists of negatives with accompanying contact prints, taken by Andrew S. Iddings, of the June 17-18, 1909 Dayton Homecoming Celebration to honor Orville and Wilbur Wright for their achievements in flight. In addition to members of the Wright family, other notable figures in the photographs are Ohio Governor Judson Harmon, Dayton Mayor Edward E. Burkhardt, General James Allen, and Lt. Frank Lahm.

Charles Harris Papers

Consists of 11 letters and postcards written by Bishop Milton Wright, father of the Wright Brothers, to his nephew Charles Harris who lived in Iowa. Letters date from 1901 thru 1916 and cover a variety of subjects including Orville and Wilbur's flying experiments, travels to Europe, family matters, and a description of Wilbur's death and funeral in 1912.
