The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra was founded by Paul Katz in 1933. It is recognized as one of Dayton's oldest and longest standing cultural institutions. Edelman was a long-time, active member of the Socialist Party in Dayton, Ohio and for a period, served as business manager for the local Socialist newspaper, Miami Valley Socialist. His papers include correspondence, clippings, political literature, Socialist campaign materials, working papers, a minute book of the Young Socialist League in Dayton (1915), scattered copies of Miami Valley Socialist, and a collection of state and national Socialist Party literature.

Fulton Flight Scrapbook

Abstract

This collection consists of an individual's scrapbook containing clippings and other memorabilia pertaining to the Fulton Flight Contest sponsored by the Aero Club of America in New York in 1909. Included are announcements of the contest, promotional material and entry form, news clippings describing the contest, commemorative postcards and information on preparation by the aviators. The scrapbook is unbound and the pages housed in three boxes.

Abstract

C.T. Hutchins was an advertising executive with the Goodyear Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, who had an interest in lighter than-air-aviation. His papers include personal and family letters, photographs, cards, news clippings, and memorabilia pertaining to early aviation. Of particular interest is material on the Goodyear-Zeppelin christening in Akron in 1931, and a folder pertaining to Amelia Earhart's visit to Akron in 1929.
