Abstract

Photographs in the scrapbook highlight a number of aviation events between 1925 and 1931, including the crash of the airship Shenandoah and the National Air Races in Cleveland of 1929 and, especially, 1931. The photographs were taken by George Chapley, of Warren, Ohio. The collection also includes 2 photographs of Chapley himself.

Abstract

The papers consist of glass plate negatives, lantern slides, and photographs of pictures taken by Anthony Philpott editor of the Boston Globe. Of particular interest in these files are copies of newspaper clippings from 1910 and 1911 about the meets, as well as pictures of Wilbur Wright, Boston Mayor John F. Fitzgerald, President William H. Taft, Claude Grahame-White, Glenn Curtiss, and other distinguished people from that time period.

Abstract The International Cyclopedia of Aviation Biography (I.C.A.B.) Collection consists of material collected by William L. Hamberger in the late 1920s and early 1930s in preparation to publish his International Cyclopedia of Aviation Biography. The Cyclopedia was never published. Materials in this collection include files on over 3,000 prominent individuals in the field of aviation in the early twentieth century.
