Andrew S. Iddings Wright Brothers Homecoming Collection

Abstract

Collection consists of negatives with accompanying contact prints, taken by Andrew S. Iddings, of the June 17-18, 1909 Dayton Homecoming Celebration to honor Orville and Wilbur Wright for their achievements in flight. In addition to members of the Wright family, other notable figures in the photographs are Ohio Governor Judson Harmon, Dayton Mayor Edward E. Burkhardt, General James Allen, and Lt. Frank Lahm.

Abstract James Keen was a newspaper photographer for a number of newspapers throughout the country, including the Dayton Journal-Herald. This collection consists of approximately 9,300 black and white negatives and black and white photographs. William F. Patterson, a prominent commercial photographer in the Dayton area, has been photographing the work of local architects, businesses, and events since the 1960s. This collection includes approximately 20,000 negatives, slides, transparencies, and photographs taken by Patterson for commercial clients and placement in books, advertisements, catalogs, and brochures. Patterson's work also includes approximately 10,000 images from his travels throughout Europe and North America.

Dale D. Smith was a Dayton, Ohio architect who began working at Richard Levin Associates in 1966 and later founded Dale D. Smith Architects in 1982. The Dale D Smith Architectural Collection comprises architectural drawings, plans and sketches, photographs, notes, correspondence and other paperwork pertaining mainly to projects worked on by Dale D. Smith at Dale D. Smith Associates. Some architectural drawings were created by Smith whilst working as a consultant for other companies.
