Creator

Biographical / Historical

The Fordham Health Sciences Library was established in 1976 as the library for Wright State University’s School of Medicine and its students. Its purpose was to provide a public space for medical students, faculty, staff, alumni, and researchers to convene and learn about the latest health information. In addition to its own circulation of 30,000 books and 40,000 volumes, Fordham librarians worked with affiliated hospital libraries to share over 100,000 volumes with the local community. The Special Collections department focused on the history of medicine and health-related fields, giving attention to aerospace medicine and human factors engineering with the Ross A. McFarland Collection. In 2008, the library merged with Wright State’s University Libraries after a decline in patrons, and the original building was torn down.
