Wright Field Photographs (SC-317)
Content Description
Collection contains approximately 22 photos of Wright Field and surrounding area c. 1940s-50s. These photos belonged to William E. Kremer who was a Base Civil Engineer. Some of the photos are numbered with USAF idenitification numbers. Also contained in the materials is a "Dayton" magazine from 1968. This will be placed in the PAM files.
This collection is a small selection of reprinted still photographs from the Wright/McCook Field Still Photograph Collection taken by the Air Force Material Division. Most of the photos are 1943 B&G (Building & Grounds) Publicity traffic congestion photographs showing employees of Wright and Patterson Fields waiting to board busses and a photograph of the congested cafeteria. Also depicted is the boardwalk at Wright Field, and four photographs of unidentified employees celebrating during an office party.

Biographical / Historical
The collector of the photographs, William E. Kremer, retired as Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy and later worked as a Civil Engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he retired in 1985.

Custodial History
Esther Kremer of Kettering, Ohio unconditionally donated the small collection of Mr. William E. Kremer, a Base Civil Engineer, to the HQ AFMC Command Curator of Air Force Materiel Command located at Wright-Patterson AFB on behalf of the U.S. Air Force Museum System.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
R. Ray Ortensie of the U.S. Air Force Museum System, transferred the collection to Special Collections & Archives on July 12, 2012.

Photographs 2-14 in this collection are prints made from the Wright/McCook Field Still Photograph Collection, 1918-1971, now located at the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum ( https://airandspace.si.edu/collection-objects/wrightmccook-field-still-photograph-collection-1918-1971 ).
Separated Materials
A June 1968 issue of Dayton Magazine was separated for cataloging and is available in the reading room.
