Biographical / Historical

Gerhard Ehlers was a German WWII chemist who came to the United States and to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as part of Operation Paperclip. Ehlers was born in May 1913 in Germany and died February 7, 2009, at his home in Greene County, Ohio.

The collection was given to Wright State by his daughter who still holds the original copies.

Existence and Location of Originals

The collection is a COPY of a recollection book by Gerhard Ehlers that he had made for his children. Ehlers' daughter, the donor, was still in possession of the original book.
