"Freedom Libraries: Mississippi Summer Project, 1964" Materials (SC-307)
This collection contains materials pertaining to the Freedom Libraries project undertaken by Virginia Steele during Freedom Summer of 1964. The materials were assembled by Mary Steele Morgan, Virginia’s sister. The collection consists primarily of journal articles about the project.
Grace A. Greene Normal School Alumnae Records
This collection consists of scrapbooks, memorabilia, lists of graduates, and reunion materials. Grace A. Greene Normal School first opened in 1869 as Dayton Normal School, and later became Dayton Teacher’s College, before being named Grace A. Greene Normal School. The school gave rudimentary education to women who wished to become teachers in the Dayton area. It closed in 1931, but an active alumnae group continued for many years.
Paul Laurence Dunbar Papers (SC-8)
Collection consists of 3 original financial items (2 receipts, 1 IOU), a news clipping, and a photocopy (2 sheets) of the 1891 graduation program from Dayton's Central High School, of which Dunbar was a class member.
