Rike Family, 1931 - 1974
Scope and Contents
The Rike Family VIP File primarily consists of photographs of Frederick H. Rike and his son David L. Rike, both of whom were head of the Dayton retail store Rike-Kumler Company. There are photographs of Frederick's wife Ethel and some other family members as well.
Of particular note are several photographs of David L. Rike, relating to his receiving the 1954 Tobé Award, one of the highest honors in the retail industry. Also notable are photographs of David L. Rike, the namesake of Wright State University's Rike Hall, at the building's groundbreaking (1978) and dedication (1981).
