The Franklin D. Roosevelt VIP File includes black and white photographs from several visits by President Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt to Dayton, as well as Hamilton, Marietta, and Lima, Ohio.

There are multiple photographs of FDR with James M. Cox, Ohio governor and 1920 presidential candidate (for whom FDR was the VP candidate), including photos at Cox's mansion Trailsend. Other notable individuals photographed with President Roosevelt include: James Farley, chairman of the New York Democratic Party and later Postmaster General under FDR; Albert Horstman, William Pickrel, and Joel Shoup, Dayton area leaders in the Democratic Party; Ohio Senator Robert Buckley, Charles Sawyer, former Ohio Governor George White, and Kentucky Senators Happy Chandler and Alben Barkley; and Orville Wright.

The most voluminous file is for a visit that FDR made to Dayton in October 1940, including several shots at Wright Field, the Wright Memorial, and in a parade in an open car alongside Orville Wright and James Cox.

The Eleanor Roosevelt files include black and white photographs from several visits by Mrs. Roosevelt to Dayton and the Miami Valley. Notable individuals photographed with Mrs. Roosevelt include: Charles Brennan, Dayton mayor; Maj. Gen. Bennett E. Meyers, commanding general of Wright Field; Maj. Gen. Delmar H. Dunton, deputy commanding general of Air Service Command; and Horace M. Huffman, Jr., of the Huffy bicycle company.
