Scope and Contents
This scrapbook contains photographs and clippings about both Horace’s life and activities, as well as commemorations of the accomplishments of Horace’s uncles, Wilbur and Orville Wright. Materials in this scrapbook include: a clipping about Horace and Susan’s experience of the 1974 Xenia tornado at their home on Spahr Road in Bellbrook; items pertaining to Horace’s education at Moraine Park School, studies at Miami University, and honorary degree from Wright State University (1981); Lambert Island photographs; the Wright Memorial overlooking Huffman Prairie; Asahel Wright museum dedication (1989); photos of Wright family with Wright Flyer fabric; Air Force Museum expansion groundbreaking and Wright Field anniversary; tree planting at Hawthorn Hill; the “Kittyhawk” cruiser boat; Bicycle Shop dedication at Wright-Dunbar (1988); photos of Wright Brothers memorabilia inside Horace and Susan Wright’s home; Horace sitting in the Wright B Flyer and honorary aviator certificates for Horace and Sue (1984); Horace and Sue in Hawaii (1966) and at Kittyhawk, North Carolina (1967); letter from Engineering Science Hall of Fame (1985); resolution from Carillon Park regarding the death of Horace Wright (1988); and Engineers Club of Dayton honorary membership certificates for Horace and Susan Wright.
