Lambert Island Photo Album, circa 1948
Scope and Contents
This photo album, an original, tied-bound, black-paper album with photos glued to the pages, consists of photos of Horace and Susan Wright with friends and family, enjoying leisure time and outdoor activities, such as boating and fishing, at Orville Wright’s Lambert Island camp in the Georgian Bay, Canada. All of the photos are presumably from after the death of Orville, which took place in January 1948, as Orville does not appear in any of the photos, and the first page of the album indicates: “Georgian Bay, Lambert Island Camp, inherited by Lorin Wright children from Orville Wright, 1948.” One photo removed from the first page of the album prior to its arrival at Special Collections and Archives did include Horace and Orville, circa 1920 or 1924.
