Scope and Contents

Group of prominent Daytonians seated at long banquet tables under the large portrait of Julia Shaw Carnell at Dayton Art Institute. Carnell herself is seated directly in front of the portrait. Description included with the photo reads: "This is a meeting of some of the leaders who were active in Community Chest work in Dayton from 1940 to 1941. Some persons are unknown therefore the numbers indicate what position the person occupies from the left. (1) ? ; (2) Mrs. Charles A. Craighead (deceased); (3) ? ; (4) Col. E. A. Deeds, Chairman of Board, National Cash Register ; (5) R. H. Grant, former W.P. of General Motors ; (6) Mrs. Deeds ; (7) W. Megree Brock, President Gem City Savings Association ; (8) Thirza Grant Reynolds ; (9) James M. Cox, former candidate for president of U.S. in 1920 ; (10) Mrs. H. G. Carnell ; (11) Wallace Whitaker ; (12) Mrs. James M. Cox ; (13) Mr. Frederick Rike ; (14) Mrs. O. H. There are no donor-imposed restrictions on accessing material in this collection; however, this collection is subject to restrictions on accessing original audio/visual and electronic record formats due to preservation concerns.

Due to preservation concerns, original audio and video materials cannot be played in the reading room. Patrons may have access to reference copies.
