Abstract

Judge Cecil's collection of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia contains pamphlets and clippings concerning Lincoln and his administration, letters from the members of Lincoln's cabinet including William Seward and Gideon Welles, photographs and prints of Lincoln and his family, and other miscellaneous items.

Abstract Founded in 2003 by Thomas C. Cecil, the Lincoln Society of Dayton seeks to encourage the appreciation of the 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, and the role that he played in American History and Society. This culminated in a fundraising effort to erect a statue of Lincoln at the Dayton Courthouse, which was accomplished in 2016.
