Scope and Content

The collection contains records of the West Carrollton Reading Club, in which Mildred Baker was an active member. Baker retained records from the organization including the original constitution and bylaws, as well as, the minutes for board meeting on January 8, 1895. She also photographed parts of the 1913 Dayton flood recovery and a tornado that hit near Ann Arbor, Michigan. Examining the Mildred Baker Papers, researchers can gain insight into life in Dayton and the surrounding area at the turn of the 20th century.

Biography of Mildred Baker

Mildred Baker lived in the Dayton area in the late 19th and early 20th century. She was involved with the West Carrollton Reading Club and lived through the 1913 Dayton flood recovery and a tornado that hit near Ann Arbor, Michigan.
