The Alpha Phi sorority was first created at Syracuse University on October 10, 1872, to provide a "tie which unites, a circle of friends" for women young and old all around the world. The Dayton Alumnae Chapter was officially founded on January 4, 1956. The chapter exists to this day as a form of contact for the alumnae in the Dayton area. Ermal C. Fraze was the owner of Dayton Reliable Tool Company and the inventor of the early versions of Pull-Tabs and Pop-Tops. This collection includes newspaper clippings, magazine articles, scrapbooks, correspondences, photographs and personal items. Most of the collection pertains to the Dayton Reliable Tool Company. A few items deal with the Fraze Pavilion, a 4300-seat outdoor amphitheater in Kettering, Ohio, named after Ermal C. Fraze.
