Lillie Howard WSU History Book Project Collection (UA-10)
Scope and Contents
Series I, Manuscripts, contains the original unedited transcript, including the original selected photographs, submitted by Lillie Howard at the conclusion of the project. This transcript is dated 2017. This series also will contain the final edited version once it is completed.
Series II, Interviews, contains the interview questions, interview notes, MP3 recordings, and transcriptions of the interviews completed for The Incredible Journey book project. Materials in this series, arranged by type and then by date, are available in the following formats: questions and notes (paper only), transcriptions (paper and electronic), interview recordings (MP3 electronic only). Electronic file locations are indicated by an e-number, such as ua10_e0001. This series includes 20 transcriptions and 42 MP3 audio files of interviews conducted between fall 2014 and spring 2017 with the following individuals: Kay Kegerreis, wife of Robert J. Kegerreis (deceased), 2nd President of Wright State University; Mary Bess Mulhollan, wife of Paige Mulhollan (deceased), 3rd President of WSU; Mignon Flack-Hale, wife of Harley Flack (deceased), 4th President of WSU; Angelia Hopkins, wife of David Hopkins, 6th WSU President; Sarah Harris, former member of WSU Board of Trustees; Charles Hathaway, former WSU Vice-President for Academic Affairs; John Fleischauer, former WSU Provost; S. Narayanan, former WSU Provost; Tom Sudkamp, former WSU Provost; Robert Sweeney, former Executive Vice-President for Planning and Secretary to the WSU Board of Trustees; Rudy Fichtenbaum, WSU faculty and former President of American Association of University Professors-WSU Chapter; Alyce Earle Jenkins, WSU faculty-retired; Emil Kmetec, WSU faculty-retired; Jim Sayer, WSU faculty-retired; Anne Shearer-Steele, WSU faculty-retired; Alphonso Smith, WSU faculty-retired; and David Hopkins, 6th WSU President.
Series III, Research Materials, contains the research list and outline, research notes, photograph list, and other background materials compiled by Lillie Howard, her research assistant, and Archives staff during the research phase of the book project. Materials in this series date from 2014 to 2018.

Biographical / Historical
The Lillie Howard WSU History Book Collection contains the original manuscript of The Incredible Journey, an original work commissioned by the Wright State University Provost’s Office in commemoration of the university’s 50th anniversary, celebrated in the fall of 2017. The book was envisioned as a companion piece to Founding and Fulfillment, a book by Charles W. Ingler published in 1983 to chronicle the first 25 years of the university. As part of the project, 17 individuals, including former WSU administrators, faculty/ staff, and members of the university community, were interviewed. Their interview transcripts and recordings are included in the collection, as well as a variety of planning documents and background materials used in the writing of the book.

Abstract
Manuscript collection for Lillie Howard’s (Wright State University Vice-President for Curriculum & Instruction, retired) 50th anniversary book project on the history of Wright University, commissioned by the Wright State University Provost’s Office in 2014. It includes interviews with several former WSU administrators, faculty/staff, and members of the university community, as well as planning documents and background materials used in the writing of the book.

Electronic files require the use of appropriate computer hardware and software. Original file formats include DOCX and MP3. In addition to the files in their original formats, preservation copies of DOCX files have also been preserved in the sustainable format of PDF/A.
