Scope and Contents
The album contains photographs by Claudy, a journalist writing for the New York Herald. Also in the album are a collection of Claudy’s news articles. The news clippings and photographs are an excellent record of Orville Wright’s activities and flights at Fort Myer, near Washington D.C. in both 1908 and 1909. There is also a first-hand account of Orville’s accident September 17, 1908, together with photographs of the damaged plane and the critical broken propeller.
