Content Description

The Marathon Hills Agreement consists of a 5-page legal document outlining the business partnership of 10 individuals in developing a plat that would later be known as the Marathon Hills development, in Section 20 of Harrison Township, near Marathon Avenue just east of Salem Avenue. Although the term "Marathon Hills" does not appear in the document itself, it is written on the envelope in which the document was received, and it can be found in newspaper articles of the era describing the same property development.

Biographical / Historical

Marathon Hills was a housing development in Harrison Township, Section 20, now part of Dayton, near Marathon Avenue, just east of Salem Avenue. It is described in newspaper articles from the time period (early 1920s) as being considered Upper Dayton View, with winding roads that connected Dayton View and Riverdale.

The partners of the Marathon Hills Agreement were Dr. Carl H. Breidenbach (primary trustee), John D. Fouts, P. J. Sheridan Jr., Paul B. Hunt, William K. Marshall, Dr. Warren C. Breidenbach, Arthur Kirschner, Florence Kirschner, Martin Davis, and Leon Meuche. This copy of the agreement belonged to Warren Breidenbach, who was Carl's nephew.
