Biographical / Historical

Mulharen O’Cain Post 3 of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) was organized on March 23, 1883, in Eaton, Ohio. There were 42 charter members, and the first post commander was B. F. Davis. By 1915, the Post had 60 members. A related Women’s Relief Corps No. 9 was founded on January 19, 1887, with 29 charter members and Mrs. Kate Coovert as president.

Mulharen O’Cain Post 3 of the G.A.R. ceased to exist sometime prior to 1992.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

The ledger is in poor condition and has been placed in a custom phase box. Patrons are requested to use especially careful handling, as the spine has come apart and pages are loose.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was acquired by Special Collections and Archives, Wright State University Libraries, prior to 2003. The donor and date of acquisition are unknown. The photograph bears a return address label for Harold B. and Jacqueline D. Wright of Springfield, Illinois, who may have donated the collection. The collection was in an envelope addressed to the Preble County Historical Center in Eaton, which may have transferred the records.
