Abstract

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Catharine Greene Chapter, was founded at Xenia, Ohio, in 1894. The records document the history and activities of the chapter, including meeting minutes, membership records, financial information, yearbooks, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, programs, photographs, and genealogical information.

Abstract

This chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is named for Jonathon Dayton, the youngest person to sign the U.S. Constitution. The Jonathon Dayton Chapter of the DAR was organized on Feb. 18, 1896 and chartered Apr. 8, 1896. The collection contains scrapbooks outlining the history and activities of the Dayton, Ohio Chapter and includes clippings, photographs, programs, local histories, and genealogies.

Scope and Contents

Journal of Nellie Van Mater who live in Greene County and attended Antioch College in the 1860s. The journal covers several months on 1864.

Abstract

This collection was donated by Jane Newberry, an active member of the Dayton League of Women Voters. Included are various issues of the League's newsletters and an assortment of reports, papers, and surveys on such topics as education, welfare, mental health, foreign policy, prison reform, housing, taxes, and pollution. Also included are some administrative, financial, and membership records.

Abstract

A native of Sharonville, Ohio, Patricia O'Brien was a successful singer and actress in New York City during the early part of this century. She returned to Dayton in 1917 and became manager of the Dayton Symphony Association. She also worked as a promoter of local theatrical events. Her papers include correspondence, photographs, diaries, and miscellaneous items.

Abstract Louise Odiorne was a landscape architect and planner working out of Yellow Springs, Ohio. The Ohio Federation of Republican Women (OFRW), founded in 1929, is the smaller, state representation of the larger National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW). Today OFRW is a volunteer based organization which seeks to support and cultivate Republican women of all ages in the state of Ohio.
