The collection consists of 3 glass plate negatives, with copy prints, depicting the Wright Flyer at Huffman Prairie. The photos are believed to date to the time of the Wright School of Aviation, which operated at Huffman Prairie from 1910-1916. It is unclear whether Wilbur Wright or Orville Wright are depicted in any of the photos.

Photographs most likely taken May 1910 at Simms Station, Dayton, Ohio, during attempts to set altitude records.According to the donor of the photographs the flight was taken on May 20-25, 1910 at Sims Field now Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio. The flights were flown to achieve the altitude record and got up to 1800 feet a new record. The airplane was a 1909 Wright Flyer transition model or the number 2 design.
