Oscar Edelman Papers

Abstract

Edelman was a long-time, active member of the Socialist Party in Dayton, Ohio and for a period, served as business manager for the local Socialist newspaper, Miami Valley Socialist. His papers include correspondence, clippings, political literature, Socialist campaign materials, working papers, a minute book of the Young Socialist League in Dayton (1915), scattered copies of Miami Valley Socialist, and a collection of state and national Socialist Party literature.

Survivors of the Holocaust Oral History Project Records

Abstract

The Survivors of the Holocaust Oral History Project was established in 1977 as a joint effort by Antioch College and Wright State University. Its purpose was to interview and preserve stories of survivors of the Nazi Holocaust who settled in the Dayton, Ohio, area. The records consist of meeting minutes, correspondence, lists of potential interviewees, clippings, and publicity. The Project produced the Emmanuel Ringelblum Collection of Oral History Memoirs of the Holocaust.

Edith McClure Patterson Papers

Abstract Edith McClure Patterson served on the Dayton Board of Education during the early 1930s and from 1915-1939 she was the first woman to serve on the Ohio Board of Liquor Control. In 1932, she ran unsuccessfully for Congress. Patterson was active in welfare and education work, and made a lifelong study of problems affecting the home and children. Young Women's League of Dayton Records

The Young Women's League of Dayton was founded in 1898 by former members of the local YWCA. It's purpose was to "promote the moral, mental, and physical welfare of young women" and its activities supported young working women in particular.
