In addition to the telephone pole lines, the photograph shows: West Dayton businesses primarily, with a few residences in the background, many parked automobiles. In the righthand foreground is what appears to be a general store, with signs advertising many household items. Other advertising visible in the photo includes: Sellenberger Bros. Vulcanizing, "Free Air" (next to two tires), Lowe Brothers paints, Mellotone, and Champion spark plugs. A mailbox is featured prominently in the foreground also.
