Scope and Contents
Dr. Charles Berry interviewed Henry Steeber about his life before, during, and after World War II. In his interview Steeber discusses his early life in Vienna Austria, his family history, and his lack of religious upbringing. Over the course of his interview details being forced into a cargo car bound for a concentration camp. He eventually escaped by jumping from the train, and when caught he claimed to be English which allowed him to receive treatment. Towards the end of the interview Steeber details how he came to Dayton and how a job at the Miami Hotel enabled him to obtain other jobs in Aruba and Puerto Rico.
