State of Ohio vs. Glester Gramham, Feb. 16, 1940
Scope and Content
The Merritt E. Schlafman Papers contain court broadcasts from Schlafman’s time as a judge for the Municipal Court for the City of Dayton as well as state court cases.
The collection is arranged chronologically and divided into local and state cases. Boxes 1 through 11 are local court cases dating from 1937 to 1943. The contents of each box is then arranged by work week, each folder containing the court broadcasts for that week and each day’s broadcasts bound together. These broadcasts contain cases of illegal alcohol possession, public drunkenness, traffic cases, domestic disputes, and other petty crimes.
Box 12 of the collection contains cases in which the State of Ohio was the Plaintiff. These folders are arranged chronologically and by case name. They include gambling and vice cases, and illegal possession of alcohol cases from 1938-1940.
