Keiter Affair - Testimonies, 1902-1905
Scope and Contents
These files contain materials pertaining to a scandal that developed over the management of the United Brethren Publishing House in Dayton, Ohio, by the agent Millard F. Keiter. In 1895, certain church leaders, including Milton Wright, began to suspect that the books were not properly kept. Audits uncovered large discrepancies and Keiter was forced out of office. This affair cuased a great divide in the Church between those members who supported Milton Wright in his unwavering attempt to prove that Keiter embezzled funds and those who supported Keiter.
