Scope and Contents
This booklet, Proceedings of the Ohio Medical Convention, contains details on the proceedings of a state medical conference held in Columbus, Ohio, in May 1846. It begins with meeting minutes and a roster of physicians who attended the conference (including their home county and town). The majority of the booklet consists of the papers presented by physicians present, detailing case reports and medical procedures. Papers in the booklet were written by John Butterfield (concerning typhoid fever); L. M. Lawson, Robert Thompson, R. Hills, and R. L. Howard. Additionally, it contains a section discussing medical ethics. The Proceedings booklet was printed by R. N. and W. F. Comly, printers. The Comly brothers Richard and William are better known in Dayton's history as the publishers of the Dayton Journal for many years.
