Series II: Aviation , 1929 - 1934
Scope and Contents
The collection is comprised of three series containing ten folders.
Series I. Family, 1917-1939, consists of personal and family letters, photographs, cards and newspaper clippings. Included are clippings and photos related to C.T. Hutchins’ 20 year award from Goodyear in 1934. Clippings and letters related to his death in New York City in 1938 are also included.
Series II. Aviation, 1929-1934, contains clippings and photos related to the 1931 christening of the Akron airship, one of the largest helium-filled airships. Then-First Lady Lou Henry Hoover christened the ship. Also included is information on early aviation.
Series III. Celebrities, 1929-1938, includes letters, clippings and photos. Of special interest are photos and information about Amelia Earhart’s visit to Akron in 1929, and a letter to Hutchins from Eddie Rickenbacker.
