Four Group Photographs unidentified IATSE Stagehands, undated
Scope and Contents
The records within the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), Local 66 collection are divided into five different records series. The order within the files is chronological.
Series I consists of the minutes from Local 66 Regular, Special, Finance and Executive Board Meetings. The minutes are contained within twelve bound volumes and cover the years 1920 1972. Within this span all minutes for 1970 are missing.
Series II, Financial Records, contains Treasurer’s Cash Books and Dues Books. Treasurer's Cash Books date 1928 1963. Dues Books date 1925 to approximately 1961. The final two Dues Books do not contain dates, but they are estimated to cover 1959-1961.
Series III contains the convention proceedings of the IATSE and the Motion Picture Machine Operators of the U.S. and Canada. The proceedings are in bound and paperback volumes.
Series IV, Correspondence, is divided into two types of records: Invoices and Contracts; and General Correspondence. Invoices document work at various shows and various performances by Local 66 between 1951-1965. These invoices give insight not only into the projects of Local 66, but they also provide a listing of plays and productions given in Dayton during that 15 year span. Also with the invoices are contracts between Local 66 and various organizations during the years 1956-1960. The contracts are interfiled with the invoices of those years. Subseries 2 contains general correspondence for the years 1947-1973. Included in this subseries is correspondence with other unions, letters establishing arrangements for contracts, thank you notes, along with memorandums and personal notes.
Series V consists of group pictures, but none are labeled with identifying information or dates. It is assumed the persons in each of the pictures are associated in some way with Local 66.
