The records of the Barbers’ Local 26 include minutes, financial records, manuals, and miscellaneous documents. Records pertaining specifically to Barbers’ Local 26 date between 1962 and 1973. There is no earlier material available, as the records were stolen in a robbery of the secretary’s car in January of 1962.
The collection also includes a few earlier items that are not specific to Local 26, such as manuals and guidelines of broader union organizations. One item from 1918 pertaining to another local union, Springfield Printing Pressmen and Assistants’ Union, Local 48, was tucked into the records as well.
