Scrapbook, 1912 - 1914

The scrapbook contains primarily newspaper clippings (which include photographs published in the newspaper) concerning exhibitions sponsored by the newly formed Montgomery County Art Association, and held at Memorial Hall, including: the first annual exhibition (March 11-26, 1913); second annual exhibition (January 22-February 4, 1914); an exhibit of local artists (September/October 1914); and the third annual exhibition (November 14-29, 1914). In addition to newspaper clippings from local Dayton newspapers, programs or catalogs listing the artworks at each annual exhibition are also included. These early exhibitions appear to have focused primarily on oil paintings. Names appearing several times include Otto Walter Beck and Ernest L. Blumenschein.
