Scope and Content
The John J. and Kathryn Beard Arthur Family Papers consist of genealogies, family histories, as well as diaries.
Series I, Arthur Family, consists of papers relating to the Arthur family. The series includes Kathryn Arthur's (nee Beard) correspondence and files referring to her. The collection spans the 20th century, with a bulk from 1930s-1960s, and 1990s. Also included are genealogies of the Arthur Family, greeting cards, and funeral items.
Series II, Beard Family, consists of the information relating to the Beard Family. The bulk of the series is genealogy. Other materials in the series are a diary, diploma, and newspaper clippings. The collection spans the years 1930s-1980s.
Series III, "H" Family, consists of genealogy relating to the Hebble Family and the Herr Family. The collection contains two undated items.
Series IV, Kline Family, consists of items relating to the Kline Family. Simliar to the other files, the Kline series contains genealogies, correspondence, and a funeral items. The collection spans the years 1857-1985.
Series V, Other Families, consists of items relating to several families. Among the names are Sowers, Swadner, and Shellabarger. Diaries, genealogies, and an array of miscellaneous papers can be found in this series. The collection spans the years 1912-1993.
Series VI, Memorabilia, contains a book about the 1913 Dayton Flood and a headpiece from a wedding.
