From the Sub-Series:

The subseries Negatives by Photographer consists of color or black and white 35mm film negatives in envelopes with original descriptions and dates, from the photographer. Some files also include the assignment sheet or other notes or attachments.

These negatives may contain additional shots or views related to one that appeared in the newspaper. It is important to note that the date on the envelope may not be the same as the date that photographs ran in the newspaper.

Photographers represented in this subseries include: Ron Alvey, Marvin Fong, Michael Heinz, Damon Higgins, Wally Nelson, Skip Peterson, Bill Reinke, Jim Rutledge, Laura Shagory, Jan Underwood, Jim Witmer, and Denny Zimmer, as well as a few from a handful of others in the Various subseries.

Prior to the acquisition of the Dayton Daily News Archive, approximately 13 linear feet of photographic negatives taken by James N. Keen captured for his work with Dayton area newspapers were donated to Special Collections and Archvies by the University of Louisville. These can be found in MS-450: James Keen Photographic Collection.

Processing Information

The extent for the James Keen collection is not included in the extent for the "Negatives by Photographer" subseries.
