Scope and Content

From the Collection:

The Collection is arranged into two series. Series I, Business Records, contains copies of the original receipts used in transacting business at the Luthman Funeral Home. These receipts give the name and date of the deceased as well as the costs associated with burial. Also in this series is Luthman entries from Williams' Dayton City Directory and a short biographical sketch on Edward W. Luthman written by the Citizens Historical Association of Indianapolis on August 16, 1947.

Series II, Burial Records, contains copies of the mortuary records and in some cases copies of the death certificates as well. Records contain information concerning services rendered (casket price, embalming, shaving-dressing, funeral car, etc.) cash disbursed (funeral car, flower car, etc.) as well as biographical information (Date of Birth/Death, residence, cause of death, etc.).The series is arranged in a volume of ten binders and spans from 1906-1982.
