Scope and Contents

This series is strong in documenting the life of Reverend Thomas E. Thomas. Rev. Thomas served First Presbyterian Church from 1858-1871. He was a widely-known teacher, Bible scholar, past president of Hanover College, and anti-slavery minister, all of which is which is well documented in this series. Of note is Rev. Phineas Gurley, who served First Church from 1849 to 1854, and preached at Abraham Lincoln's funeral.

Audio/visual materials: Due to preservation concerns, original audio and video materials cannot be played in the reading room. Patrons may have access to reference copies. Items without reference copies can be digitized at the request of a patron for the cost of creating a digital copy.
