Biography
The medical school was established in 1973 by the Ohio General Assembly. The School of Medicine opened to students in 1976, with this class graduating in 1980. The medical school officially changed their name to the Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2005, honoring the philanthropist Oscar Boonshoft.

Dr. Richard A. DeWall Papers (MS-584)
The Dr. Richard A. DeWall Papers contain material from Dr. DeWall’s lengthy career. Within the collection there are copies of publications, patent documentation, and presentation slides created by Dr. DeWall. The material mostly relates to Dr. DeWall’s invention of the bubble oxygenator. However, there are some materials from his efforts to create a medical school at Wright State University.
