Series 2: Aullwood Garden, 1965 - 2015

Scope and Contents

Series 2: Aullwood Garden contains information on Aullwood Garden MetroPark as well as significant amounts of material on the life of Marie Aull.

Subseries 2A, History and Governing Documents, includes assorted articles and reports on the history of Aullwood Garden, Aullwood House, and Marie Aull and her husband, John. Also of interest are photocopied versions of plant orders made by the Aulls in the 1920s and 1930s, as well as copies of some historical images.

Subseries 2C, Surveys and Assessments, features a vegetation survey undertaken by the park district.

Subseries 2D, Public relations and Marketing, consists of news clippings, largely about Marie Aull.

Subseries 2E, Projects and Plans, contains mostly land acquisition information, including material documenting how the donation of the Aullwood property fit into the park district’s Land Acquisition program of the late 1970s and early 1980s. It also includes a file documenting maintenance of a historic stone wall in the park.

Subseries 2F, Publications, includes park maps and brochures.

Subseries 2H, Programs and Outreach, includes information on park activities, with an emphasis on Marie Aull and the park’s history and plants.

Subseries 2K, Correspondence, includes letters featuring comments from Marie Aull to the park district regarding the management of Aullwood Garden.

Subseries 2L, Committees and Associations, contains material about Aullwood Audubon Center, an organization founded by Marie Aull that neighbors Aullwood Garden. It also contains an essay inspired by Marie Aull.

Subseries 2P, Audiovisual, includes photographs, negatives, slides, and videos (particularly oral histories).

There are no donor-imposed restrictions on access restrictions for this collection; however, necessary preservation and logistical restrictions are described below.

Audio/visual materials: Due to preservation concerns, only reference copies of original audio and video materials can be accessed in the reading room. Items without reference copies can be digitized at the request of a patron for the cost of creating a digital copy. Please provide us at least two weeks advance notice if you would like to request an audio or video reference copy. Call (937) 775-2092 or e-mail us at library-archives@wright.edu. Use of digitized content is subject to conditions governing use.

Electronic records: Access to electronic files in this collection, indicated by an e-number (e.g., ms45_e0001), is restricted until they are fully processed. Requests for unprocessed electronic records can be submitted for consideration, with at least two weeks advance notice. Call (937) 775-2092 or e-mail us at library-archives@wright.edu. Archives staff reserve the right to restrict access to files with privacy or confidentiality concerns or to deny requests in which the review period is insufficient, given the volume of records requested and the desired access date.
