Scope and Contents
The materials within the International Union of Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers AFL-CIO, Local 768 are divided into six series; Minutes of Administrative Bodies, Administrative Functions, IUE 775 Activities and Programs, Contract Proposals, Negotiations, and Agreements, Political and Educational Materials, and Newspaper Clippings. The Minutes of Administrative Bodies series is divided into three subseries; Minutes of Membership Meetings, Minutes of the Executive Board, and Minutes of the National Labor Relations Board Conference.
The Minutes of Administrative Bodies (Series I, subseries 1) contains the Minutes of the Regular Membership Meetings for IUE Local 768 (1953-1964) which was re-chartered as Local 775 in 1965. The Membership Minutes for Local 775 run from 1965 to 1976. This subseries also contains the Shop Committee Minutes for 1970 and Membership Rosters for 1976. Series I, subseries 2 contains the Minutes of the Executive Board (1965-1975), the Constitution of IUE Local 775 (1973), and the President's Reports (1975). Series I, subseries 3, contains the Minutes of the National Labor Relations Board Conference (1973-1974).
The Administrative Functions series is divided into two subseries, Election Protests and Charges Against Union Members and Officers, and Correspondence. The remaining four series contain no internal subdivisions. The arrangement of the file folders is chronological within each series.
The Administrative Functions section (Series II, subseries 1) contains election protests and charges against union members and officers (petitions, grievances, trial materials, etc.) The span dates for this subseries dates from 1964(c) 1973. Series II, sub-series 2 contains correspondence from inter(c) union affiliates, politicians, and civil rights materials (1965-1976).
The IUE Local 775 Activities and Programs section (Series III) contains the records of various union social and service organizations, job surveys, and pension benefit materials (1965-1976).
The Contract Proposal, Negotiations, and Agreement section (Series IV) contains a great deal of material documenting negotiations between IUE 775 and Chrysler(c) Airtemp of Dayton over such concerns as wage parity, hours, seniority, working conditions, job classifications, pension and health benefits, collective bargaining etc. The span dates for this material range from 1955-1973.
The Political and Educational Materials section (Series V) contains the Education Committee worker questionnaires and literature (1969), materials from the Committee on Political Education (1971-1972), and the Political Action Legislative Committee (1975-1976).
The last section, Newspaper Clippings (series VI), contains IUE news releases (1965-1972) and newspaper clippings (1971, 1976).

Historical Note
The International Union of Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers AFL-CIO, Local 775 was chartered in 1965. Prior to this date, the IUE membership at Chrysler of Dayton were amalgamated with IUE Local 768 and later were chartered as a separate local in 1965. IUE Local 775 represented many of the workers at the Chrysler plant in Dayton. The offices and meeting hall for IUE Local 775 were located at 4127 East Second Street, Dayton, Ohio.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The records of the International Union of Electrical, Radio, and Machine Workers AFL-CIO, Local 775 were accessioned into the Wright State University Archives and Special Collections Department by the Ohio Labor History Project in March of 1979.
