Boyer’s, the Circus & Other Historical Reminiscences by Chip Boyer. This particular paper begins with a brief history of the Boyer families’ settlement in Dayton and their transition from furniture makers to morticians. It chronicles the famous patrons of the Boyer business such as Paul Laurence Dunbar, John H. Patterson, Harold E. Talbott and Chiko the chimpanzee from the Barnum and Bailey Circus. He ends the paper chronicling his research and the end of the Boyer families’ involvement with the funeral business. Chip also wrote a paper in 2002 on the Boyer’s involvement with famous Dayton residents of personage such as the Wright Brothers and their immediate family.
