Biography of Reinhold Gross

Reinhold Gross was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on March 5, 1911. He was educated in Stuttgart and received the equivalent to a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1942. After working on parachutes and related equipment during World War II, Gross immigrated to the United States and worked for over thirty years in the Dayton, Ohio, area as an engineer.

During his more than thirty year career as an engineer, Gross authored or co-authored a number of technical reports and gave presentations at various symposiums. He was also inventor or coinventor of a number of patents related to aviation, particularly parachutes and safety lowering devices.
