Dr. Benjamin R. McClellan was a long-time physician in Xenia, Ohio. He was active in a number a variety of medical activities in Greene County. Included in his collection is a booklet outlining the principles of medical ethics of the American Medical Association. This booklet also contains the Constitution and By-Laws, Membership, and Fee-Bill for the Greene County Medical Society. There is also a chart for the “Diagnosis and Treatment of Nervous and Mental Disorders,” which was developed by Dr. H. H. McClellan in 1928. However, the bulk of the collection contains non-medical material. Included in this material are mortgage deeds and deeds of sale for land in Greene County, Ohio primarily purchased by John Ginn. Of interest for some researchers is a letter to James Miller from John Wallace concerning his journey from Xenia through Zanesville and Steubenville to Pittsburgh, PA in December 1807. Finally, there are several copies of the original roll of Company E, 153rd OVI.
